sculpture 4

These were some sculptural experiments which were results of stretching tights, The tubular structure of the tights really intrigued me.

Sculpture 3

here are some examples of sculptures I made developing from my previous work. I was concentrating on the triangular shape which seemed to be reoccurring in my work

sculpture 2

I also started to stretch latex over wooden frames, This brought me onto stretching elastic bands over wooden boxes. here are some examples of the kinds of things I was up to ..

Sculpture

On the first day of my 2 week sculpture module we were broken up into groups and told to brainstorm certain words to do with the vital signs and the senses. For example to breath, to smell, temperature etc.

From these mind maps We made lists of verbs
to ________

We then had to choose afew that interested us,
My downfall was that I chose about 26 words and therefore found it hard to choose which would be best to work with. I subsequently chose about 6 words I could work with
- to obscure
- to hammer
- to crush
- to stretch
- to ruffle
- to drag

I then made a list of materials that I could possibly use for each.
I found that 'To Stretch' had the most opportunities.

I then made a mindmap from the words to stretch to gat my brain going.

On the second day of the project I decided to source some plastic items, melt them and stretch them,
I initially used a lighter to melt the items,  this left marks from where parts of the plastic burned, So I decided to use a het gun as an alternative method of melting the plastic.
