When I first read the title of the brief , 'Movement and motion' I didn't really know where I was going to go with it. For the first few days I was mind mapping, Trying to get any ideas that I had in my head out! I began to look at words such as 'slow-mo', 'gestures', 'wind' and 'ripple' - after the first day or two I realised that I needed more concrete ideas and more concepts rather than just words. After afew days, 2 things started to stand out to me, Wave motion and Bionics (particularly of limbs and prosthesis).
^^^^mind mapping^^^^
These topics were my first responses(after alot of seiving through ideas and mind-mapping might I add), They may change, They may not. Regardless, I hope to develop this response through Art and Design in LSAD.
WEEK DOS:
I spent alot of this week and week one researching and developing my ideas. I was looking at different types of waves and the different things in nature and just things in general that represent them.
For example, I was imagining the waves as very sublime, calming, peaceful things. To represent this I was dropping ink into still water and recording the way in which it diffused and the random, unpredictable shapes it made. I also looked at the way a platic bag would toss and turn in a breeze, and how a piece of fabric also can represent a waves movement and can represent its peaceful, sublime nature.
On the other hand I studied the violence of waves. and how a drop of ink in disturbed water is quickly dispersed, also the how a strong violent wind will affect the plastic bag or piece of fabric,
This week I also took a small look at the bionic side of things-
I created a small hand out of green wire. It is movable to an extent. I hope to make a small animation from it.
NOTE: Get in contact with someone who knows basic animation about animated hand.
I also sketched my hand afew times, I hope to design my own bionic arm...
- Although I am very interested in the bionic topic I think it could be a bit much at the moment to concentrate on 2 topics. So, I might just leave it for now and get back to it when I'm clearer on my wave thing, as I do have some ideas on ways he two topics could link.....
...Stay tuned for more...
